Urogenital Abnormalities

Definition: Congenital structural abnormalities of the urogenital system.

Urogenital Abnormalities Categories.
Bladder Exstrophy - Congenital eversion of the urinary bladder. It is characterized by the absence of a portion of the lower abdominal wall and the anterior vesical wall, with eversion of the posterior vesical wall through the deficit.
Epispadias - Congenital absence of the upper wall of the urethra.
Nephritis, Hereditary - Hereditary disease characterized initially by hematuria and slowly progressing to renal insufficiency. It is sometimes associated with perceptual deafness and/or congenital ocular defects.
Sex Differentiation Disorders - Abnormalities in sexual differentiation that may occur in the gonads, the genital tracts, and the external genitalia. Disorders of sexual differentiation are due to the presence or absence of genetic and endocrine factors. Sex-determining genes (GENE, SRY) dictate the gonadal sex whereas the fetal testicular hormones determine the somatic sex during SEX DIFFERENTIATION.
