Definition: Diseases affecting the orderly growth and persistence of hair.
Notes: GEN or unspecified; prefer specifics; dis of hair follicles: coord IM with HAIR FOLLICLES (IM) but FOLLICULITIS is also available

Hair Diseases Categories.
Folliculitis - Inflammation of follicles, primarily hair follicles.
Hirsutism - Excess hair in females and children with an adult male pattern of distribution. The concept does not include HYPERTRICHOSIS, which is localized or generalized excess hair.
Hypertrichosis - Localized or generalized excess hair. The concept does not include HIRSUTISM, which is excess hair in females and children with an adult male pattern of distribution.
Hypotrichosis - Presence of less than the normal amount of hair. (Dorland, 27th ed)
