Anoxia

Definition: Clinical manifestation of respiratory distress consisting of a relatively complete absence of oxygen.
Notes: differentiate from ANOXEMIA; do not confuse X ref HYPOXIA with HYPEROXIA; fetal anoxia = FETAL ANOXIA; CEREBRAL ANOXIA see HYPOXIA, BRAIN; restrict to dis or clin state in human & higher animals: do not confuse with anoxic or hypoxic state in lower animal

Altitude Sickness - A morbid condition of ANOXIA caused by the reduced available oxygen at high altitudes.
Anoxemia - Clinical manifestation of respiratory distress consisting of relatively complete absence of oxygen in arterial blood.
