Definition: The branch of psychology concerned with psychological aspects of teaching and the formal learning process in school.

Psychology, Educational Categories.
Aptitude - The ability to acquire general or special types of knowledge or skill.
Child Guidance - The psychiatric, sociological and psychological study and treatment of the developing child with emphasis on preventive or prophylactic measures focused on the familial, educational and socio-environmental milieu of the child.
Child, Exceptional - A child whose needs, abilities, or other characteristics vary so much from the average in mental, physical, or social areas that a greater than usual level of services is needed to facilitate the child's maximum potential development.
Education of Mentally Retarded - The teaching or training of those individuals with subnormal intellectual functioning.
Remedial Teaching - Specialized instruction for students deviating from the expected norm.
Student Dropouts - Individuals who leave school, secondary or college, prior to completion of specified curriculum requirements.
Underachievement - Performance, usually in school work, poorer than that predicted from aptitude and/or intelligence testing.
Vocational Guidance - Systematic efforts to assist individuals in selecting an occupation or suitable employment on the basis of aptitude, education, etc.
