Population

Definition: The total number of individuals inhabiting a particular region or area.
Notes: IM human, NIM animal; /genet allowed; differentiate from DEMOGRAPHY (the statist study of population characteristics)
Also Called: School Age Population

Population Categories.
Rural Population - The inhabitants of rural areas or of small towns classified as rural.
Suburban Population - The inhabitants of peripheral or adjacent areas of a city or town.
Urban Population - The inhabitants of a city or town, including metropolitan areas and suburban areas.
