Catastrophic Illness - An acute or prolonged illness usually considered to be life-threatening or with the threat of serious residual disability. Treatment may be radical and is frequently costly. |

Iatrogenic Disease - Any adverse condition in a patient occurring as the result of treatment by a physician, surgeon, or other health professional, especially infections acquired by the patient during the course of treatment. |

Rare Diseases - A large group of diseases which are characterized by a low prevalence in the population. They frequently are associated with problems in diagnosis and treatment. |

Recurrence - The return of a sign, symptom, or disease after a remission. |
