Definition: The common name for the species Mus musculus.

Mice Categories.
Mice, Congenic - Mouse strains constructed to possess identical genotypes except for a difference at a single gene locus.
Mice, Inbred Strains - Genetically identical individuals developed from brother and sister matings which have been carried out for twenty or more generations, or by parent x offspring matings carried out with certain restrictions. All animals within an inbred strain trace back to a common ancestor in the twentieth generation.
Mice, Mutant Strains - Mice bearing mutant genes which are phenotypically expressed in the animals.
Mice, Transgenic - Laboratory mice that have been produced from a genetically manipulated egg or embryo.
