Foot Deformities, Acquired

Definition: Distortion or disfigurement of the foot, or a part of the foot, acquired through disease or injury after birth.
Notes: deformity of bone, joint, muscle, etc.

Foot Deformities, Acquired Categories.
Equinus Deformity - Plantar declination of the foot.
Hallux Limitus - A bony proliferation and articular degeneration of the first METATARSOPHALANGEAL JOINT that is characterized by pain and a progressive decrease in the dorsiflexion range of motion.
Hallux Rigidus - A condition caused by degenerative arthritis (see OSTEOARTHRITIS) of the METATARSOPHALANGEAL JOINT of the great toe and characterized by pain and limited dorsiflexion, but relatively unrestricted plantar flexion.
