A genus in the family FILOVIRIDAE consisting of several distinct species of Ebola virus, each containing separate strains. These viruses cause outbreaks of a contagious, hemorrhagic disease (HEMORRHAGIC FEVER, EBOLA) in humans, usually with high mortality. |
