Adenoviridae

Definition: A family of non-enveloped viruses infecting mammals (MASTADENOVIRUS) and birds (AVIADENOVIRUS). Infections may be asymptomatic or result in a variety of diseases.
Notes: a family of DNA viruses; adeno- refers to early isol from adenoids; infection = ADENOVIRIDAE INFECTIONS

Adenoviridae Categories.
Aviadenovirus - A genus of ADENOVIRIDAE that infects birds. The type species is FOWL ADENOVIRUS A.
Mastadenovirus - A genus of ADENOVIRIDAE that infects mammals including humans and causes a wide range of diseases. The type species is Human adenovirus C (see ADENOVIRUSES, HUMAN).
