Diagnostic Techniques, Obstetrical and Gynecological Categories.
Colposcopy - The examination, therapy or surgery of the cervix and vagina by means of a specially designed endoscope introduced vaginally.
Culdoscopy - Endoscopic examination, therapy or surgery of the female pelvic viscera by means of an endoscope introduced into the pelvic cavity through the posterior vaginal fornix.
Fallopian Tube Patency Tests - Methods for assessing the patency of the fallopian tubes.
Fetal Monitoring - Physiologic or biochemical monitoring of the fetus. It is usually done during LABOR, OBSTETRIC and may be performed in conjunction with the monitoring of uterine activity. It may also be performed prenatally as when the mother is undergoing surgery.
Hysteroscopy - Endoscopic examination, therapy or surgery of the interior of the uterus.
Pelvimetry - Measurement of the dimensions and capacity of the pelvis. It includes cephalopelvimetry (measurement of fetal head size in relation to maternal pelvic capacity), a prognostic guide to the management of LABOR, OBSTETRIC associated with disproportion.
Placental Function Tests - Methods used for the assessment of placental function.
Pregnancy Tests - Tests to determine whether or not an individual is pregnant.
Preimplantation Diagnosis - Determination of the nature of a pathological condition or disease in the ovum, zygote, or blastocyst prior to implantation. CYTOGENETIC ANALYSIS is performed to determine the presence or absence of genetic disease.
Prenatal Diagnosis - Determination of the nature of a pathological condition or disease in the postimplantation embryo, fetus, or pregnant female before birth.
Uterine Monitoring - Measurement or recording of contraction activity of the uterine muscle. It is used to determine progress of LABOR, OBSTETRIC and assess status of pregnancy. It is also used in conjunction with FETAL MONITORING to determine fetal response to stress of maternal uterine contractions.
Vaginal Smears - Collection of pooled secretions of the posterior vaginal fornix for cytologic examination.
