Angioscopy - Endoscopic examination, therapy or surgery performed on the interior of blood vessels. |

Blood Circulation Time - Determination of the shortest time interval between the injection of a substance in the vein and its arrival at some distant site in sufficient concentration to produce a recognizable end result. It represents approximately the inverse of the average velocity of blood flow between two points. |

Blood Flow Velocity - A value equal to the total volume flow divided by the cross-sectional area of the vascular bed. |

Blood Pressure Determination - Techniques for measuring blood pressure. |

Blood Volume Determination - Method for determining the circulating blood volume by introducing a known quantity of foreign substance into the blood and determining its concentration some minutes later when thorough mixing has occurred. From these two values the blood volume can be calculated by dividing the quantity of injected material by its concentration in the blood at the time of uniform mixing. Generally expressed as cubic centimeters or liters per kilogram of body weight. |

Laser-Doppler Flowmetry - A method of non-invasive, continuous measurement of microcirculation. The technique is based on the values of the Doppler effect of low-power laser light scattered randomly by static structures and moving tissue particulates. |

Microscopic Angioscopy - The noninvasive microscopic examination of the microcirculation, commonly done in the nailbed or conjunctiva. In addition to the capillaries themselves, observations can be made of passing blood cells or intravenously injected substances. This is not the same as endoscopic examination of blood vessels (ANGIOSCOPY). |

Plethysmography - Recording of change in the size of a part as modified by the circulation in it. |

Tilt-Table Test - Tilt tables are used to maintain a head-down body posture during testing of cardiac response to identify patients with a vasodepressive or cardioinhibitory response as a cause of syncope. (From Braunwald, Heart Disease, 4th ed, p621) |
