Immunohistochemistry - Histochemical localization of immunoreactive substances using labeled antibodies as reagents. |
Periodic Acid-Schiff Reaction - A histochemical technique for staining carbohydrates. It is based on PERIODIC ACID oxidation of a substance containing adjacent hydroxyl groups. The resulting aldehydes react with Schiff reagent to form a colored product. |
Prussian Blue Reaction - The reaction of potassium ferrocyanide with ferric iron to yield a dark blue precipitate at the sites of the ferric iron. Used to determine ferric iron in tissues, particularly in the diagnosis of disorders of iron metabolism. |
