Anesthetics

Definition: Agents that are capable of inducing a total or partial loss of sensation, especially tactile sensation and pain. They may act to induce general anesthesia, in which an unconscious state is achieved, or may act locally to induce numbness or lack of sensation at a targeted site.
Notes: GEN or unspecified; prefer specific groups or specific anesthetics; no qualif for anesthetics when used to produce anesthesia; with type of anesthesia: Manual 26.21+; policy: Manual 25.21+

Anesthetics Categories.
Anesthetics, Combined - The use of two or more chemicals simultaneously or sequentially to induce anesthesia. The drugs need not be in the same dosage form.
