Blood Volume

Definition: Volume of circulating BLOOD. It is the sum of the PLASMA VOLUME and ERYTHROCYTE VOLUME.
Notes: PLASMA VOLUME; ERYTHROCYTE VOLUME; & ERYTHROCYTE VOLUME, PACKED are also available; coord IM with disease /physiopathol (IM), not /blood

Blood Volume Categories.
Erythrocyte Volume - Volume of circulating ERYTHROCYTES . It is usually measured by RADIOISOTOPE DILUTION TECHNIQUE.
Plasma Volume - Volume of PLASMA in the circulation. It is usually measured by INDICATOR DILUTION TECHNIQUES.
