Musculoskeletal System

Definition: The MUSCLES, bones (BONE AND BONES), and CARTILAGE of the body.
Notes: GEN; must be both musculo + skeletal, otherwise prefer BONE AND BONES or MUSCLES

Musculoskeletal System Categories.
Cartilage - A non-vascular form of connective tissue composed of CHONDROCYTES embedded in a matrix of type II COLLAGEN and CHONDROITIN SULFATE. It is divided into three types: hyaline cartilage, fibrocartilage, and yellow or elastic white fibrocartilage.
Fascia
Ligaments - Shiny, flexible bands of fibrous tissue connecting together articular extremities of bones. They are pliant, tough, and inextensile.
Muscles - Contractile tissue that produces movement in animals.
Skeleton
Tendons - Fibrous bands or cords of CONNECTIVE TISSUE at the ends of MUSCLE FIBERS that serve to attach the MUSCLES to bones and other structures.
