Polyamines Categories.
Colestipol - Highly crosslinked and insoluble basic anion exchange resin used as anticholesteremic. It may also may reduce triglyceride levels.
Diamines - Organic chemicals which have two amino groups in an aliphatic chain.
Hexadimethrine - A synthetic polymer which agglutinates red blood cells. It is used as a heparin antagonist.
Methenamine - An antibacterial agent most commonly used in the treatment of urinary tract infections. Its antibacterial action derives from the slow release of formaldehyde by hydrolysis at acidic pH. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p173)
Pentetic Acid - An iron chelating agent with properties similar to those of the edetates. (From Dorland, 28th ed) DTPA has also been used as a chelator for other metals, such as plutonium.
